Building confidence,
one lesson at a time.

Hi, I'm Sofia — an English tutor based in Windsor, working with primary and secondary school students. Whether your child is wrestling with reading, working up to the 11+, or starting to look ahead to GCSEs, we'll find the way through together — at their pace, in a way they actually enjoy.

Hi — I'm Sofia ✦

a little about me ↓

Lessons your child will actually look forward to.

I tutor Years 1 to 13 — and I sat the same GCSEs and A-Levels your child is working towards not so long ago. Recent enough to remember what the questions actually felt like; far enough past it to teach them calmly. Confidence comes first — the marks follow.

a note for parents

“the homework battles. the tummy-aches on a Sunday night. the ‘I'm just bad at English’ that comes out of nowhere.”

I see this more often than you'd think. We start there— not with the curriculum, not with a level test. Just with the bit that's actually hurting.

↓ what we can work on

From first words
to final exams.

📖

Reading & Comprehension

Years 1 – 6

Building the muscle of reading — fluency, comprehension, and the confidence to read aloud without freezing. From early readers up to KS2 SATs.

✏️

Creative Writing

Years 3 – 11

Helping your child find a voice on the page. Story craft, descriptive writing, and the small habits that turn a flat sentence into a good one.

🎓

11+ Preparation

Years 5 – 6

Focused prep for the English papers — comprehension, creative writing, vocabulary. Calm, structured, and as low-pressure as 11+ ever gets.

📝

GCSE English

Years 10 – 11

Language and Literature. Essay technique, set-text confidence, and the exam strategy textbooks never quite teach. AQA, Edexcel, OCR.

📜

A-Level Literature

Years 12 – 13

Close reading, essay craft, and the leap from GCSE answers into proper A-Level argument. Including UCAS personal statements when the time comes.

How it works.

No long sign-up forms, no contracts. Just a chat, a first lesson, then we take it from there.

1

A free chat — just us

A relaxed 15-minute call between you and me. You tell me where your child is and what's worrying you. I tell you honestly whether I'm the right fit.

2

A first lesson, no pressure

If we both feel good, we book a first session with your child. Mostly getting to know each other, finding out what they enjoy, and starting somewhere small.

3

Weekly sessions, in the loop

Most students see me once a week, online or in person in Windsor. After every session, a quick note via the messages — and your child can drop me a question or a draft any time between lessons.

A great English teacher who is kind, patient, and supportive. She explains everything clearly and makes lessons enjoyable. I have improved my English a lot thanks to her help and encouragement. Highly recommended!

Alex has never been that motivated with GCSE English but also struggled with how best to structure the answers. Sofia has been excellent with Alex — listening carefully and taking the time to understand how best Alex works and amending the lessons and her approach accordingly. She is really motivating, especially when dealing with a difficult aspect or prose that Alex wasn't that interested in. As such Alex has found the lessons really enjoyable and engaging, and has said Sofia is far better than his teacher at school. He has just finished his last GCSE English exam and was really pleased with how well they all went, and is looking forward to the results in August. We can't recommend Sofia highly enough for any parent whose child is either struggling, demotivated, or wants to improve their English grades regardless of their starting point.

Sofia has been an excellent tutor for my son — he has gained confidence and the skills to get a good grade in Lang and Lit GCSE. Sofia is thorough and planned and very positive during the lessons, and follows up. I would highly recommend Sofia if you need a Lit/Lang tutor. Thank you Sofia for everything.
