About Sofia

English tutor in Windsor, working with primary and secondary school students. Confidence first — the marks follow.

Who I am

Hi, I'm Sofia. I tutor English from Year 1 right through to Year 13, online and in person in Windsor.

I sat the same GCSEs and A-Levels your child is working towards not so long ago — recent enough to remember what the questions actually felt like, far enough past them to teach them calmly. I'm now working towards a BA in English at Royal Holloway, University of London, and I started tutoring in October 2025 — first through MyTutor, working with primary and secondary students, before launching Assured English as my own practice. The aim with this place is to give each family a more personal, joined-up experience than a big platform can.

My patch is broad: phonics and reading fluency with the very youngest, comprehension and creative writing for 11+ prep, GCSE Language and Literature, A-Level set texts, plus the occasional UCAS personal statement. Whatever year group, the principle's the same: find where the wobble is, build the right muscle slowly, and keep the room a calm one to be in.

How I work

Start where they are. The first session isn't a level test. It's a proper chat — about what your child finds hard, what they enjoy reading, and what they're working towards.

Real books, real writing. Whatever they're reading at school, plus things they'd actually choose themselves. No dusty workbooks unless it's the one the exam board uses.

A proper way to message. Your child gets their own login to message me directly — a stuck question, a draft, a photo of their homework. Parents get a code from me (no second account to remember) for a private space of their own — lesson notes, billing, and a direct line to me about how things are going. Parents and students have separate threads; neither side sees the other's.

Progress you can see. Every few weeks we look back at real samples of your child's work — before and after. Plain English, no jargon, no spreadsheets.

Where I teach

In person in Windsor, and online over Zoom anywhere else. Most of my in-person students are based around Windsor and the wider Berkshire area; online students can be anywhere in the UK. In-person home visits are available subject to distance.

Sessions are 50 minutes, usually weekly, and bookable around school and work.
