Who we are and what we do
Assured English is a sole-trader English tutoring business operated by Sofia Rashid Ahmead, trading as Assured English, based in Windsor, UK. We provide one-to-one English tutoring lessons to primary and secondary school students, both online and in person in the Windsor area.
These terms apply whenever you book a lesson with us, on behalf of yourself or your child. By booking a lesson you agree to these terms.
Booking and lesson policy
- Booking — initial enquiries are made via a free 15-minute parent chat booked through our Calendly link. Ongoing weekly lessons are scheduled directly with Sofia.
- Cancellation— please give at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a lesson. Cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice are normally charged at the full lesson fee, except in cases of genuine illness or emergency.
- No-shows — if neither the student nor the parent attends a scheduled lesson without notice, the full fee is payable.
- Refunds— if Sofia has to cancel a lesson, it will be rescheduled at no extra cost. If a rescheduled slot can't be agreed, you will receive a refund or credit for that lesson.
Acceptable use
- Messages sent through the student or parent portal must be respectful. Offensive, abusive, or threatening content is not permitted.
- Parents remain responsible for their child's use of their student account, including the messages sent and any content uploaded.
- Don't impersonate anyone else, and don't share your sign-in details with people outside your family.
- We reserve the right to suspend or close an account that breaches these rules.
Intellectual property
Lesson materials, worksheets, written feedback, and any teaching resources that Sofia produces remain her intellectual property. You may use them for the student's personal study, but please don't redistribute, resell, or publish them without permission.
Any work the student produces — essays, creative writing, drafts — remains theirs.
Payment
Lesson fees are agreed at the start of the tutoring relationship and confirmed in writing. Invoices are sent manually by Sofia, typically monthly. Payment is by bank transfer to the account details shown on the invoice.
We do not take card payments on this site, and we do not store payment card or bank details in our systems.
Invoices are due within 14 days of the invoice date unless otherwise agreed.
Our promise (and what we don't promise)
We'll deliver lessons with reasonable skill and care, in line with what a competent English tutor would do. We'll prepare for sessions, give honest feedback, and treat your child with kindness and respect.
We can't guarantee a particular grade outcome — exam results depend on many things outside our control, including the student's own effort, the exam board, and the marker on the day. We make no promise about specific grades or percentile improvements.
Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that can't lawfully be excluded.
Subject to that, our total liability to you in connection with the tutoring service is limited to the fees paid by you in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.
Ending the arrangement
Either party may end the tutoring arrangement at any time by giving the other reasonable notice — usually at least one week, so any final lessons can be wrapped up properly. There is no fixed-term contract.
We may also end the arrangement immediately if there is a serious breach of these terms (for example, abusive messages, or non-payment of invoices after a reminder).
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be flagged to existing parents by email before they take effect, and the “Last updated” date at the top will be revised.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England & Wales, and any dispute will be dealt with by the courts of England & Wales.
